FAQs

  • Do you have accommodation on site? Included in all of our pricing is an overnight stay for the happy couple and we have four additional en-suite rooms that are available for your wedding party to book direct with us. New from March 2019 – exclusive hire of The Garden Wing will be available for wedding parties – a fully furnished, self catering Wing sleeping 12. Further accommodation is available locally in either www.whitehorsecanterbury.co.uk which has eleven rooms or www.thelinenshed.com which has three rooms. Canterbury, Whitstable and Faversham are all within a ten minute journey and offer an array of hotels and bed & breakfasts.
  • What time are you licensed until? Our licence runs until 11.30pm for both music and the sale of alcohol.
  • If we opted for an outside ceremony, what would happen if it rained? We can’t control the weather, but would do everything we could to accommodate an outside ceremony if this was your preference. However if the weather turned against us, the ceremony would be moved into the elegant Hall of the main house.
  • Do you have in house catering? We work with Scott Anderson Catering  to provide our catering and drinks service at Mount Ephraim. They have a fantastic reputation for providing imaginatively presented, delicious tasting food that is beautifully served. Should you wish to have an alternative company we charge an opt out fee of £600. You are also welcome to have other suppliers such as an ice cream van.
  • Do you offer wedding packages? Yes. We have 3 wedding packages available which include all of your venue hire, catering, drinks and accommodation if required. Alternatively you can have a bespoke package and choose from a range of delicious menus and drinks options. Our venue prices are based on low and high season, with weekday or Friday to Sunday pricing. There are no hidden extras and prices include a complimentary night’s stay for the wedding couple, full use of our wedding preparation suite,  day before access, along with an easel, PA system and cake stand. Please note your registrar fee for your ceremony and any marquee hire is in addition to our package price.
  • Do you offer ceremony only? Yes we can offer ceremonies or house/marquee receptions only or a full ceremony with reception.
  • Are the gardens open to the public during our wedding? The gardens are open from Easter weekend until the end of September 11am – 5pm. The house is not open to garden visitors and the front lawn would be for your exclusive use on the day. After the wedding breakfast, guests are free to further explore the ten acres of landscaped gardens which would be closed to the public at this time.
  • Do you have any restrictions on car parking? There is ample space in the garden car park which is approx 300m from the house. Cars can be left overnight. Only guests staying in accommodation can park by the house.
  • Can we dress the house to our liking? We are happy for you to add any finishing touches for your day and you are welcome to set up the day before. Our only stipulation is that pins/tacks are not used, nor anything else that would damage the decoration or fabric of the building.
  • Are we allowed confetti? Yes – biodegradable please.
  • Are we allowed fireworks? Unfortunately not out of our respect for our neighbours.
  • Can we have games on the front lawn? Yes you can bring in your own games. We  also have a croquet set you can loan for a refundable deposit and the house also features a full size snooker table room.
