Summer Solstice Evening Garden Opening

Sunday 21 June 6pm - 9.30pm

Celebrate the Summer Solstice with a magical evening at Mount Ephraim Gardens as the gardens open exclusively for an enchanting out-of-hours experience on the longest day of the year.

Wander through ten acres of stunning Edwardian gardens in the golden evening light, bring your own picnic, and relax as the sun sets across the Kent countryside. With sweeping views, peaceful terraces and beautiful evening light, it promises to be a truly memorable midsummer evening.

Begin the evening with a special drinks reception served in the beautiful hall of the house before the gardens open. Sip a glass of Kentish Fizz and sample a taster of Eton Mess with cherries, which can be savoured inside or outside, before heading into the gardens for the rest of the evening until 9.30pm

The Pantaloons and This is My Theatre will be returning to the gardens this summer with four fabulous outdoor theatre performances including:

Sunday 9th August - The (Almost) Complete History of Britain

Bank Holiday Monday 31st August - Twelfth Night

Sunday 13th September - The Great Gatsby

All outdoor performances will start at 4pm and access to the gardens will be from 3pm for ticket holders. If you wish to enjoy the gardens before 3pm on the day of your show, you will need to purchase a separate garden ticket. Please bring a picnic and something to sit on as seating isn't provided. The shows will continue in most weathers.

Abstract Painting in the Gardens of Mount Ephraim - from Kim O'Neil

One‑day workshop • Thursday 6 August • £35 (includes garden entry)  

Demonstration at 11am

Step into the sweeping gardens of Mount Ephraim House for a full day of expressive, nature‑led painting. This immersive workshop invites you to slow down and let the landscape guide your creativity as you develop an abstract painting inspired by the colours, textures, and atmosphere of these beautiful grounds.

Working outdoors (with plenty of sheltered spots if needed), Kim will share a live demonstration at 11am, exploring techniques for capturing the essence of foliage, the shimmer of water, and the soft movement of floral forms. You’ll experiment with mark‑making, layering, and intuitive colour choices to build a piece that reflects both the environment and your personal response to it.

Whether you’re new to abstraction or looking to deepen your practice, this day offers a gentle balance of guidance, exploration, and creative freedom. Expect a relaxed, supportive atmosphere, time to roam the gardens, and the space to create something uniquely your own. A perfect summer escape for artists who want to paint with feeling, curiosity, and a touch of wildness.

Described by RunABC as an 'absolute gem', this beautiful 10k course takes runners along the quiet country lanes around the stunning estate at Mount Ephraim Gardens. 

Organised by award-winning Nice Work, it attracts both club runners and those running for the joy of it!

And of course, no harvest celebration is complete without delicious treats served from our Tea Room!
